Love Drug

"Love is like getting high: intense, short lived and you always want more the next time."
The Chemical Buddha rarely felt anything as intoxicating as the first moment of love. Sure, there was the instant of penetration (which he loved and was unlike anything else he'd ever experienced) but that high of being around someone he loved was unmatched. Wanting to touch them. Hold them. Hear their voice. Of course, with TCB's incredibly addictive personality, the rush of love only lasted for approximate 12 minutes and 42 seconds. Then he was off to something else. He basically had the attention span of a cat in room a filled with shiny Christmas ornaments, birds, and open paper bags. Eventually, The Chemical Buddha built up such a tolerance to love, we're not sure if he was capable of feeling it later in life.
How often are you satisfied in your life?
How long do you stay satisfied?
What are the things you love about your life right now?
What things would you change?

Pssst. Hey Kid.

"Oxytocin is the original gateway drug."
The Chemical Buddha heard a lot about gateway drugs that were supposed to lead to harder and harder drugs and a life of hardship and addiction. However, TCB thought this was nothing more than a clever smokescreen by people who didn't want teens and kids to know the true source of their craving for connection: oxytocin. Before you Google oxytocin we'll tell you what it is (just in case Google disagrees with us). Oxytocin is the chemical that is released during skin to skin contact. And as psychological research has shown, baby monkeys will forego food for touch. I’m not sure, but that seems like a pretty big indication that oxytocin is an addictive drug. It was this line of thinking that lead The Chemical Buddha to debunk the myth that marijuana would open anyone to anything. We're born addicts.
What do you crave?
What has the impact of that craving had on your life? Would you define it as 'good' or 'bad'?

Action Addictions

“Addicted to my distractions.”
As you may have noticed, The Chemical Buddha was addicted to a lot (and we do mean a lot) of things. But we think he was really trying to distract himself from his unhappy childhood, and problems holding down a job or finding a good woman. Although he would say his jumping around was about being in the moment and trying to take in as much as possible. And while, on the surface, that seems like a pretty good answer, we’re almost positive that seems like what was going on. But take it from us, once TCB got wasted or came he curled up into the fetal position and bawled like a baby about his childhood. Luckily, he wouldn’t remember any of it because he was soooo wasted.
How do you justify your behavior?
What do you try to forget? Do you think it’s possible to forget the things you’re trying to forget or do the memories come up at the wrong time?
What would work better for you to let them go? Talking about them and releasing them, or stuffing them and trying to forget them?

Oxygen Bar

“We're all addicted to oxygen.”
The Chemical Buddha was called all sorts of things: drunk, druggie, pothead, junkie, burn out, stoner, etc. And if he wasn’t too fucked up to do it, he would usually point out how we’re all addicted to something. He just had more going for himself than anyone else. It was one particularly inspiring moment when he it dawned on him that every animal on the planet (of which we were one) was addicted to oxygen. When he awoke to this insight, he would berate his detractors and say, "Just see how long you can go without oxygen and tell me you’re not an addict too!" He would also point out oxygen withdrawals lead to death. So you could say we’re all genetically disposed to be addicted to oxygen.
What can you not do without?
How do you feel when you don’t have it anymore and how do you adjust?
