The Land of Amoral

“I lost my moral compass.”
The Chemical Buddha was a wayward spirit pretty much from the get go. While other children’s parents would instill some sort of idea of ‘right’ and ‘wrong,’ TCB’s parents conveyed the message that ‘right’ and ‘wrong’ were actually just ideas. And what may be right in one culture is wrong in another. And vice versa. So The Chemical Buddha had no guidance on what to do in any given situation (other than following what his dick, stomach, or addictions told him to do). This made being around The Chemical Buddha quite a challenge. Because one moment you could do something and he could be happy as a lark (a stoned lark, but a lark nonetheless). And the next he could be throwing a temper tantrum about how ‘wrong’ something was. He claimed this was to teach his students how things could change in an instant.
How has your concept of ‘right’ and ‘wrong’ changed?
What things did you use to think were ‘right’ do you now think of as ‘wrong’?
Why do you think your ideas have changed?

Believe This

“You can find a book to support whatever you believe.”
The Chemical Buddha didn’t believe much outside of his own experience. He thought just because someone else shared your opinion or beliefs didn’t make them (or you) right. Of course, it doesn’t make you (or them) wrong either. This was the crossroads TCB found himself at on a fairly regular basis. Because his experiences were so unlike anything he saw, read or heard about he didn’t know how to interpret what was going on in his life. And though he found himself to be unique in a lot of ways. He also found he was very similar to those around him too. For instance, he found people often asked the same questions about life and their place in the world, but the answers they came up with were often times pretty fucked up. They wanted to control other people’s lives but they didn’t want anyone controlling theirs. They wanted to exclude certain people, but they wanted to be included. The Chemical Buddha decided the questions were true, but there were no right answers.
Who do agree with? Why?
Who do you want to agree with you? Why?

Wrong is the new Right

“Are you sorry? Or just sorry you got caught?”
Believe it or not, there was a time that The Chemical Buddha actually had a relationship (all be it short lived) with a woman who knew her shit. She asked The Chemical Buddha the above question after she caught him being used as a hobby horse by a bar fly he brought to her house while she was out. He did manage to mumble out a ‘sorry’ but in reality she was right. He was only sorry that his lies, half-truths and misdeeds were uncovered. In this moment he woke up to the fact that people only apologize when someone catches them and tells them what they're doing is ‘wrong.’ He believed one way to avoid this, was to change your definition of what's ‘wrong.’ Because if it feels right than how can it ever be wrong?
How often do you apologize for doing what you want to do?
What do think is ‘right’ that other people think is ‘wrong’?
