"High on pure ego."
The Chemical Buddha felt the best during those brief moments when he actually loved himself. He felt better than he could on any type of drug. Don't get us wrong. He felt really, really good when he was high/drunk but when he was mainlining pure ego, everything just seemed to flow. People loved him and he loved himself. I think it's safe to say, judging by his behavior; The Chemical Buddha didn't feel good about himself very often. Because, when that happened he would try and prop his fragile ego up by buying shit he couldn't afford, eating when he wasn't really hungry and doing drugs pretty much every waking moment of his life. In fact, we're sure if he had been more of an egomaniac he probably wouldn't have been The Chemical Buddha we know and love.
When do you feel 'good' about yourself?
When do you feel 'bad' about yourself?
What do you do to try and prolong feeling 'good'?
What do you do to try and not feel 'bad'?

Yawn
"Addicted to ego."
In the beginning, most of what drove The Chemical Buddha was his ego. His ego always wanted the next new, shiny thing. The next delicious treat. He always wanted to see a new woman naked. But as he simplified his life down to Twinkies, pot, and sex (he would always want to see someone new naked). His ego had less of an impact on his life. Of course his life was really, really, boring and even we don't have much to say about this time.
What part of your life are you constantly changing? Why do you think it needs to change?
How much of your life do you spend 'bored'?
What excites you about your life?

Wonder Drug
“The best hallucinogenic is pure ego.”
The Chemical Buddha used a variety of drugs to visit strange and wondrous places he couldn’t have gone to otherwise. But he found nothing fucked with his world more than pure ego. In fact, he thought it was the most abused ‘drug’ on the planet. Because he noticed people went on ego trips all the time and seemed to visit some very strange places indeed. Places where they’re important and people actually care about what they think. Especially people in the entertainment business, politics, and other religious leaders (beside him) who were in positions were their egos were constantly fed. While TCB thought egos were important because they help us differentiate from each other, he thought the over inflated egos were the most dangerous. Especially when sometime tried to poke a hole in it. Which helps explain while The Chemical Buddha never let people with sharp metal objects (other than hypodermic needles) around him.
What parts of your personality will you defend/protect? What personal critiques have had the biggest impact on you and why?
How often is what you think of yourself different than what other people think of you?

No Good Deed Goes Unpunished
“No acts of charity are truly selfless.”
The Chemical Buddha appreciated any act of charity. He was not above accepting a charity/mercy fuck. In fact, it’s safe to say most, if not all of The Chemical Buddha sexual experiences (that he didn’t pay for) were charity/mercy fucks. However, when it came to acts of charity, TCB believed people didn’t do it from an egoless place. In fact, he was pretty sure it was all driven by ego. Either to feel good about themselves or to get other people to recognize and congratulate them. And while he was pretty confident on that idea, he wasn’t sure what a true selfless act would look like. Even if Jesus was being selfless, it did lead to the founding of several religions based upon him and his teaching. Same with Buddha and Mohammad. The pagans might have been closest. They gave us some incredible festivals and no one remembers who started them or why. Except to get together and dance around naked and enjoy being alive. Which is what TCB did and is probably why he began to consider his very act of living as a selfless acts of charity.
Why are you nice to people?
Is it possible to do something for someone and not feel good about yourself or have them appreciate you for doing it? If so, what would that look like?
