The Gift of Life

"Life is a gift most of us treat like we don't want."
Believe it or not, there was a time before The Chemical Buddha attained enlightenment. During that period of his life, TCB spent most of his time complaining about life. (He would later learn to enjoy the bounty of flesh, drugs, and raucous good times that were available to him.) During this time he was known to sulk and deeply sigh. But eventually, like most spiritual teachers, he experienced an awakening and saw life as the gift it was. However, it wasn't a near-death experience but rather when he ate some cold French fries he found in the bottom of his car while he was high. He claimed they were the best fries ever! From that moment forward he took it upon himself to wear his life out. To fully experience the gift he had been given.
What are you treating like you don't want?
What changes do you need to make to get the absolute most out of what you've been given?

Back in the High Life Again

"If you're not high on life, I've got something that'll help."
The Chemical Buddha was all about enjoying the moment. He subscribed to taking life's highlights and making them even higher. In fact, he found, with the right 'state' of mind, even mundane things like doing the dishes could be enjoyable. Although, with all of those pretty bubbles to watch, it might take forever to actually get the dishes clean. TCB was all about taking things to the next level. Including the crushing lows he experienced after coming down from life’s 'highlights.' He reasoned, why be depressed when you could be clinically depressed? As you'll see in the insight from June 22nd, to him, it was important to get the most out of everything.
Do you get the most out of life or do you hold a little bit back?
If so, what prevents you from fully stepping into life?
Do you have highs, lows or just try to keep everything on an even keel?
Do you consider a display of excessive emotion to be 'good' or 'bad'? If so, why?

Best. Drug. Ever.

“O.D. on pure awareness.”
The only time The Chemical Buddha had a drug overdose was the moment right before he died. But because TCB, along with other Buddhists, believed everything happened in our awareness, he likened enlightenment to an overdose of 100% pure awareness. And to partake in pure awareness was the best high imaginable. Although, like any pure drug, the high was hard to maintain so you would eventually come down. Because humans weren’t meant to take in that much juice. If they were, they wouldn’t be human, they’d be gods (or The Chemical Buddha).
How much are you aware of in your life? Are you aware of the impact you have on others (both good and bad)?
How much of your life do you not participate in? Are you aware of the impact it has on others?

High Life

“High on more than life.”
The Chemical Buddha loved life. (Mainly because he was pretty sure the dead didn’t orgasm.) But as much as he loved it, he also wanted to take his love to the next level (or higher). So he would use what he called ‘life enhancers.’ TCB thought of life like a plain turkey sandwich. Which was really good but if you slathered some stone ground spicy mustard and some banana peppers, suddenly the sandwich that is life was a lot better. To keep with the sandwich theme, toward the end of his life TCB’s turkey sandwich had stone ground spicy mustard, banana peppers, bacon, smothered in nacho cheese. And the bread was a Krispy Kreme doughnut split in two. In a nutshell, it was unhealthy as fuck, but full of flavor.
How do you spice up your life?
Is your ‘spice’ constructive or destructive to your life and health?
If it’s destructive, what one thing could you do that would be fun and make your life better?

Last Dance with Mary Jane

“Pot: smokeable amnesia.”
When The Chemical Buddha was smoking pot he couldn’t remember what he’d just said let alone what he was going to do or what he had been doing. To him, pot was the perfect way to release all attachments to the past. Another benefit is it helped him enjoy every little moment of life. Like the taste, texture and colors of the world around him. And everything he ate was ‘the best ever!’ Of course smoking weed also helped him loose all attachment to getting shit done. Along with any motivation for being successful. So while it was a mixed bag of benefits, The Chemical Buddha thought the positives far outweighed the negatives. But labels like ‘positive’ and ‘negative’ always depended upon your perspective. And what end of the bong you were on.
What do you need to forget?
How would you benefit from slowing down and taking in what the world has to offer?

Brew Mastur-Bater

"The only bad thing about going to work drunk is that when you sober up, you're at work."
On the few occasions The Chemical Buddha was gainfully employed, he would often have a little sip or toke to make the job easier to put up with. And it was fun for a little while. Except when he'd sober up. Then it was excruciating. Not only was he now sober but he was at work too. Quite possibly the worse combination imaginable. The reason TCB was only occasionally employed is because his work performance would go right in the toilet when he sobered up. Of course, he did love the job he had at the brewery. However, he got fired from that job because he was caught taking 5 cases of beer home. They didn't believe his story of taking some work home with him. But that aside, it was the only time he combined what he loved with making money. That and the time he launched his website: Watch TCB Masturbate.
Do you do things you don't like to do? If so, how do you motivate yourself?
What do you love to do? Could you earn a living doing what you love?
